How You Can SupportFor Mary Lancaster, accepting a leadership position at 麻豆精品 was a homecoming. Mary is a two-time Carlow graduate, first in 2017 with a degree in early childhood and then again in 2024 with her master鈥檚 degree in early childhood supervision.
After completing her undergraduate degree at Carlow, Mary moved to Washington state where she worked as a fourth grade and then kindergarten teacher for several years. 鈥淭he Carlow Education Program prepared me to be the best educator I could be. I walked into my first teaching job head and shoulders above the rest of the first-year teachers solely because of the education I received here at Carlow. I loved the devotion of my professors, Dr. Rae Ann Hirsh, Sr. Roberta Cambell, and Dr. Marilyn Llewellyn. Their strong beliefs and service to their students helped shaped me into the educator I am today.鈥� Mary also credits the strong practicum and field experiences as part of her preparation program. 鈥淭he study abroad program I participated in to Sligo, Ireland truly highlighted the sacredness of creation as it relates to education and life. In addition, the opportunity to explore different educational philosophies (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf) while an undergraduate student allowed me to experience the diversity in early childhood education,鈥� Mary shared.
When she returned to Pittsburgh, Mary accepted the role as Director of Extended Day and Summer Camps at The Campus Laboratory School. Mary then served as the Assistant Director of the ELC from 2022 to 2024. She then became as Director of The Early Learning Center (ELC), a State-licensed and NAEYC accredited program serving children birth to age three using a continuity of care model.
