Dr. MiIsha Reid is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the Education Department at 麻豆精品, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate students aspiring to become teachers. At Carlow, Dr. Reid is deeply devoted to preparing the next generation of educators to be inclusive, culturally responsive, and equipped to address the diverse needs of students in today鈥檚 classrooms. She is passionate about instilling in her students a commitment to equity and inclusion, encouraging them to rethink traditional education models in favor of approaches that prioritize the success of all learners. 

Dr. Reid鈥檚 work at Carlow centers on fostering an understanding of the complexities of special education, with a focus on preparing future teachers to advocate for students with disabilities. When exploring intersectionality in relation to disability, Dr. Reid encourages her students to understand how disability intersects with various other identities, which can magnify the complexity and oppression faced by individuals with disabilities. In her courses, Dr. Reid combines theory and scholarship with hands-on experiential learning, equipping her students with the skills necessary to create positive, inclusive learning environments. 

With a diverse background in education, Dr. Reid has extensive experience working with children and youth in various learning environments, both within and outside of traditional school settings. Her roles have included elementary school teacher in inclusive classrooms, STEAM museum educator, interventionist for early learners, and educator for emergent multilingual learners, youth, and adults. In each of these roles, Dr. Reid has been driven by her passion for education and her love of witnessing the 鈥渁h ha moments鈥� that signify student growth and understanding.

In addition to her classroom teaching, Dr. Reid is committed to mentoring her students, providing guidance as they navigate their paths toward becoming effective and compassionate educators. She is dedicated to supporting her students鈥� professional growth, helping them understand the critical role they will play in shaping equitable educational environments.
