Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program Receives Accreditation from ACOTE

Just in time for the holiday season, the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) has revealed the results of its recent on-site evaluation of Carlow鈥檚 occupational therapy doctoral (OTD) program. Earlier this month, the Council voted to grant Carlow鈥檚 OTD program a status of accreditation for a period of seven years.

鈥淭his is the best Christmas present we could receive!鈥 said Dr. Humphrey. 鈥淐ongratulations to the entire OT team for a job well done. I am so proud of the work you are doing to make a difference for Carlow.鈥

The Carlow OT program began in July of 2020, with the first cohort enrolling in Fall of 2022. With this new decision, both the Master of Science and entry level doctorate in OT are now fully accredited at the 7-year level. This is a remarkable achievement for such a young program.

鈥淲e are thrilled,鈥 said Dr. Erin Phillips, the Occupational Therapy program director. 鈥淥ur focus is small, hands-on opportunities. We are a small program in a big space, allowing for a student focused approach to learning, in a city that offers resources, clinical collaborations, and community service. Thank you to ACOTE for recognizing us.鈥

ACOTE is the accrediting body for occupational therapy (OT) and occupational therapy assistant (OTA) programs in the United States, ensuring these programs meet the standards needed to prepare graduates for professional practice.
