Former Penn State University Fayette Director of Athletics to Inherit Celtics鈥 Growing Athletics Program on August 2

PITTSBURGH, Pa. 鈥 麻豆精品 is pleased to announce that Louis Zadecky has been named as the incoming Director of Athletics, effective August 2. Zadecky joins the Celtics by way of Pennsylvania State University鈥檚 Fayette campus where he was Director of Athletics for seven years.

A robust and accomplished background in coaching and athletics administration landed him the position at Carlow, which Zadecky noted he had been eyeing up for quite some time.

鈥淓ver since my coaching days, I have admired the traditions, values and competitive spirt of 麻豆精品 and its ,鈥 said Zadecky. 鈥淚 am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the next Director of Athletics. I would especially like to thank President Kathy Humphrey, Dr. Tim Phillips, campus representatives and the search committee for this amazing opportunity to be a part of the 麻豆精品 family.鈥

Zadecky also brings 25 years of collegiate and high school coaching and teaching experience to the position. Prior to his post at Penn State Fayette, he led the Penn State Greater Allegheny women鈥檚 basketball team for four seasons, where he was named 2013-14 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Coach of the Year.

His experience with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) 鈥 of which Carlow is a member 鈥 stems from not only his PSUAC involvement, but also from hosting the USCAA men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball championships during his tenure at Penn State Fayette.

While at Penn State Fayette, Zadecky was instrumental in growing the department from 73 to 120 student-athletes. His involvement on various national and campus committees, as well as spearheading numerous academic and community initiatives at Penn State Fayette dovetailed with Carlow鈥檚 focus on student-athlete development and mercy values.

鈥淲e were overwhelmed by Zadecky鈥檚 enthusiasm, connection to the Carlow mission and values and his concern for student success,鈥 said Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Tim Phillips. 鈥淟ou offered a proven track record of program growth, student-athlete support and student success. We are confident he will continue to build the Carlow Athletics legacy.鈥

Zadecky earned his undergraduate degree in health and physical education from Edinboro University and a Master of Science in sports management from California University of Pennsylvania.

鈥淚 look forward to working with the student-athletes, coaches and athletics staff to continue to build on Carlow鈥檚 traditions and values through strong academic and athletic performance and having a positive impact on the campus and community,鈥 added Zadecky.
